  • Head & Curator of Photography Grant

    I’m a freelance fashion and portrait photographer based in Milan and Munich. I'm also the Editor-in-Chief of Iconic Artist Magazine. I always loved to shoot in analogue like old school but sometimes I ised also digital it depends on the content I want to create. Always passionate about fashion and photography, I studied self-taught and did so much practice photographing people I already knew. I tried to learn the secrets of an art that is as fascinating as it is difficult to learn, I only hoped to keep alive the love of discovery and the ability to be amazed at every shot. For me photography is a pretext, to try new experiences and live life by seizing so many occasions that surround us and that in modern society are often ignored. I loved spontaneity and relies on intuition. The best results are obtained when taking photographs without the knowledge of the subject.

    My name is Alena, I'm originally from Belarus, I'm 29, and I've been living in Germany for about 10 years. I'm a designer to the core. Even as a child, I knew that when I grew up, I would do something creative. I attended music school, art school, and always loved to create something with my hands…

    I remember when I was a kid, I took my mother's dresses, cut off pieces of cloth in the middle of each one, and sewed them into outfits for my dolls, and used Lego to build furniture for them. For the dresses I got of course nice, but even then it was clear what was what.

    I moved to Germany for an education, first studying architectural design at the Munich Academy of Arts My main specialization was architecture, product design and graphic design. It was there that my interest and passion for photography was born. For me, it has always been extremely important to develop in everything I do, try to be the best in my business, learn new things and improve. That's why I'm currently studying industrial design at the Hochschule Munich. My main specialization is product design and photography. It's always been hard for me to say who I am in this big world of design and creativity. It is not easy for me to assign myself a specific role in this field, and why limit yourself to a single term or concept if you are multi-faceted and full of talents? So to speak, I'm a multi-designer or artist: product designer, illustrator, graphic designer, UX/UI designer, photographer; sometimes I can be on the other side of the camera - all of the above captures me, admires me, and is my passion.
